Yolanda M. Medina has been practicing law since December 2002. Ms. Medina graduated from California State University Fullerton with B.S. in Psychology in 1992 and graduated from Whittier Law School in 2002. Ms. Medina was a mental health worker prior to attending law school. Ms. Medina is fluent in Spanish.
Ms. Medina is a highly skilled attorney handling medical malpractice cases. For the past 18 years Ms. Medina has handled and tried numerous complicated medical malpractice cases involving birth injuries and catastrophic injuries.
Ms. Medina began her career working with Federico C. Sayre, a well known civil rights and personal injury attorney. At the Law Offices of Federico C. Sayre, Ms. Medina worked on a class action discrimination case in the Virgin Islands. When Ms. Medina returned from the Virgin Islands, she handled noteworthy cases that gained national attention, such as The UCI Willed Body Legal Cases (2005) involving the alleged selling of body parts donated to UCI for science, and a case against Orange County Department of Social Services for the death of a 5 year old child, which resulted in a 4.25 million dollar verdict in 2004. Ms. Medina along with co-trial counsel received recognition for their work on the case against Orange County Department of Social Services by a national publication, “Lawyers Weekly, USA” in 2004.
Thereafter, in 2006 Ms. Medina worked primarily with the late Frank P. Barbaro where she gained most of her experience in handling Medical Malpractice cases. Ms. Medina took over some of the cases of Jay Horton, who was Mr. Barbaro’s former partner, when Mr. Horton became a mediator.
Ms. Medina has received recognition from “America’s Registry of Outstanding Professionals” and recognized by the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys as “10 Best Female Attorneys in California” as well as recognition from “Top Verdict” for the top 50 Medical Malpractice Settlements in the US in 2022 for her work in the case D.L.C. v. Sierra Vista Family Clinic et al. 2022. Ms. Medina is also fluent in Spanish.
