In December of 2015 a 15 year old male walked into the hospital with flu like symptoms. Within 4 hours, he became paralyzed as a result of an improper spinal tap procedure. The hospital neglected to check his platelet count prior to performing the procedure, which caused the paralysis. The failure to order a STAT platelet infusion was a breach of the standard of care. With this breach we were able to argue for a settlement of $2.5 Million.
